Secreto y Sociedades Secretas en la crisis del Antiguo Régimen: Reflexiones para una historia interconectada con el mundo hispánico

The present article looks to analyze the possibilities that the study of the secret societies offer during the crisis of the Ancient Regime, to account for an interconnected process with the Hispanic world. For this, it studies the concepts about the use of the secret in politics, and it explores possible ways of diffusion of these secret societies between Europe and South America. As a hypothesis, we argue that Freemasonry had an indirect responsibility in the expansion of the associative model in Hispanic world, due to the fact that since the French Revolution, the anti- Masonic absolutist propaganda had a higher presence in the public sphere, constituting a possible vehicle of diffusion of the associative model.El presente artículo busca analizar las posibilidades que ofrece el estudio de las sociedades secretas durante la crisis del Antiguo Régimen, para dar cuenta de un proceso interconectado con el mundo hispánico. Para ello, se repasan las categorías de análisis referentes a la utilización del secreto en política, y se exploran posibles vías de difusión de estas sociedades secretas entre Europa y América del Sur. Como hipótesis, sostenemos que la masonería tuvo una responsabilidad indirecta en la expansión del modelo asociativo en el mundo hispánico, debido a que desde la Revolución Francesa, la propaganda antimasónica absolutista tuvo mayor presencia en la esfera pública constituyendo un posible vehículo de difusión del modelo asociativo
