The technological evolution of media vehicles, the changes in readers’ habits, and the possibility of accessing contents for free have placed the printed press at a difficult crossroads. This paper describes the different business strategies employed by newspapers to guarantee their survival. In the case of Spain, it is still unclear that paywalls will be a solution in the short run.
