A large number of research articles as well as debates in economic forums address the unsustainability of the public pension system in Spain in the medium and long term. This paper therefore has the following objectives: (i) to forecast trends in population ageing in order to estimate future retirement benefits; (ii) to study the dynamics of participation in the Social Security system as well as the amount that contributors pay; (iii) to determine whether the current pension system will be sustainable in the future, and if not, to estimate when the system would become bankrupt; (iv) to propose suitable measures in order to build a sustainable system in the future.Numerosos trabajos y foros económicos indican la existencia de problemas en la...
