For some years now the animal invades Western thought. To address this issue this paper is organized in three stages. At first it discusses the way in which the figure of the animal participates in the founding of the modern subject, settling as what is foreclosed of the cogito. Then, it presents how as Derrida reexamines the Cartesian fable, he challenges psychoanalysis to approach the question of the animal as something present in the heart of its thinking, and finally it shows how Lacan, from a re-examination of the Cartesian cogito, attempts to answer the question of the animal, finding that not only can the animal speak, but that the subject bark.Desde hace algunos años el animal invade el pensamiento occidental.
