ABSTRACT In this essay i show how photography understood as a language of communication, contributed in the symbolic aspect to the building up of a social hegemony at beginnings of the Twentieth Century in the city of Cartagena. By tracking the way in wich the elite is self-represent through the photographs produced during the period between 1900 and 1930, I pretend to reveal the way in wich this cultural product participates in a social process that sets the frames and distances between this group ( wich was defined in relation with contemporary values) and the social groups that did not set these values into practice, being those the popular groups of the city.En el presente ensayo pretendo mostrar cómo la fotografía, entendida como discu...
