ABSTRACT This article’s main topic is gender conflict and the entrenched sexism in the city of Cartagena between 1940 and 1950. Both Catholic religion and family have served as focal points from which the sexist phenomenom has institutionalized and spread out, relegating women to house work and to reproduction. This explains to a great extent, female prostitution. On the other hand, a synthetic relationship will be established with Foucault`s concept of power, arguing about its incidence in prostitution`s sexual activity. The colonial period will be taken into consideration as the axis of precedents for this issue.El presente artículo tiene como temática principal, el conflicto de género y el machismo en la ciudad de Cartagena entre 1940-19...
