Utopía en Paraguay: memoria y transmisión en los relatos sobre el pasado

Latina America has been a fertile ground for utopias. Since the end of 19th century and during 20th century many colonies, religious and polical ones, have taken root in the Region. In a very small and unknown country as Paraguay, there have been five communities with projects in the margins of the State and the market. We know of their existence because all of them have been investigated and analyzed through differente types of narratives and stories. They constitute a very interesting symbolic capital, somehow a self-management tradition, that might be useful for contemporary communitarian experiences. Although, silence has been the case. Most of them have been considered as aborted experiences, confusing discontinuity with failure. This is the main point of this essay: I want to know if there is a relation between the narrative structure of those stories on utopias and the failed transmission of their memories. Somehow I displace the focus from the contents of the stories to the form they organize information.América Latina ha sido terreno abonado para las utopías. Desde fines del siglo xix y durante todo el siglo xx son numerosas las colonias, religiosas y políticas, asentadas en la región. En un pequeño país como Paraguay se han localizado cinco comunidades con proyectos al margen del Estado y del mercado. De todas estas experiencias hay relatos que describen sus avatares y dan cuenta de su desarrollo, constituyendo un interesante capital simbólico, una suerte de tradición autogestionaria, que podría servir a emprendimientos contemporáneos. Sin embargo, la memoria de estas experiencias ha quedado relegada, en el mejor de los casos, al papel de los experimentos abortados, confundiendo discontinuidad con fracaso. En este trabajo me pregunto por ese silencio y por su relación con la estructura narrativa de los relatos sobre utopías. Desplazo el eje de análisis de los contenidos de los relatos a la forma en la que esos relatos organizan la información.
