Dieu et liberté. The Liberal Catholic Alternatio in the Nineteenth Century. This paper is a comparative perspective about european Liberal Catholicism between the thirties and the seventies in the nineteenth century. lt includes a study of the Catholic Church evolution in this period. The paper explores six cases: on the one hand France and Belgium where that politic current became more significant than other countries; the other had Italy, England, Holland and Germany, where Liberal Catholicism were of lesser importance in spite of great names as Lord Acton.
