La reconstrucción de un espacio de poder a través de los mapas. El caso de la cartografía misional del Obispado de Villarrica, Chile (1890-1935)

The article analyzes the work displayed by the Bavarian Capuchin missionaries in Araucanía (Chile), between 1890 and 1935, from which the power dynamics that existed in the area during that period were mapped. The research takes as theoretical references the Geohistory and Geography of power persepctives. The sources used come from the Archivo Regional de la Araucanía and the Archivo del Obispado de Villarrica. The results from the research reflect that the missionary action done by the Capuchins followed a pattern of territorial occupation that served as a basis for the Chilean State to consolidate the occupation of the Araucanía. Likewise, it is demonstrated that this missionary action allowed the formation of a space power that was crucial for structuring the administrative mechanisms that legitimated the presence of the State in the area.El artículo analiza el trabajo desplegado por los misioneros capuchinos bávaros en la Araucanía (Chile), entre 1890 y 1935, a partir del cual se levantaron mapas que representaron las dinámicas de poder presentes en el territorio durante aquel periodo. La investigación toma como referentes teóricos las perspectivas de la Geohistoria y la Geografía del poder. Las fuentes utilizadas provienen del Archivo Regional de la Araucanía y del Archivo del Obispado de Villarrica. Los resultados de la investigación reflejan que la acción misionera de los capuchinos siguió un patrón de ocupación territorial que sirvió de base para que el Estado Chileno consolidara la ocupación de la Araucanía. Asimismo, se demuestra que dicha acción misional permitió la formación de un espacio de poder que fue fundamental para la estructuración de los mecanismos administrativos que legitimaron la presencia del Estado en la zona
