Colombia has recently started the production of Biodiesel from palm oil and Bioethanol from sugarcane. The bioethanol in Colombia replaces 8% of the national consumption of fuel for transportation and it represents nearly 263.340 gallons per day. A life-cycle energy and environmental assessment was conducted for bioethanol production from cassava in Colombia. The scope covered all stages in the life cycle of bioethanol. In the Life Cycle Assessment the impact assessment method used is IPCC2007 GWP100a, for global warming.
