In 16th century Spanish chivalry theatre, the plays that rewrote episodes from Feliciano de Silva’s novels had considerable importance. Francisco Leiva, a playwright from Malaga, was among the authors that staged those adventures. This article aims to stress the importance of one of his 13 plays: Amadís y Niquea. The last play of the genre of chivalry theatre, it includes a high variety of staging problems and moreover a very unusual role of the first actress. En el teatro caballeresco español del s.
