Three different approaches in the study of Mesoamerican pictorial manuscripts called codices are presented in this work. Due to its methodological characteristics, they are called: scientific method, scientific Galarza’s method and tequila-marijuana or impressionist method. After the definition of all of them has been given some specific cases of analysis are presented, which, at the same moment, exemplify the first, so called scientific method. As for the scientific Galarza’s method the main author´s objection against its use is presented.
