Los códices mesoamericanos: métodos de estudio

Three different approaches in the study of Mesoamerican pictorial manuscripts called codices are presented in this work. Due to its methodological characteristics, they are called: scientific method, scientific Galarza’s method and tequila-marijuana or impressionist method. After the definition of all of them has been given some specific cases of analysis are presented, which, at the same moment, exemplify the first, so called scientific method. As for the scientific Galarza’s method the main author´s objection against its use is presented. Finally, in the case of the impressionist method no specific example is given to avoid possible misinterpretations. Regarding the scientific method, also some cases of analysis of codices dated back to the XVI century are presented, and the causes of their wrong interpretation are examined. As a result it is concluded that nowadays, in the XXI century, the scientific method is still neither appropriately nor commonly used.En este trabajo presentamos lo que consideramos que son los tres sistemas de análisis que actualmente se aplican al estudio de los códices mesoamericanos. Debido a sus características metodológicas los denominamos del siguiente modo: científico, científico galarziano y tequilamarihuana o impresionista. Además de su definición mostramos en el primero de ellos una serie de análisis de casos concretos que lo ejemplifican, en el segundo la objeción principal de su desarrollo y, por último, en el tercero hemos decidido mencionar su existencia sin hacer referencia a casos concretos para evitar malas interpretaciones. En el caso del método científico incluimos ejemplos que ya observamos en el siglo XVI en autores de la época y analizamos las causas principales de las interpretaciones erróneas.
