Angioma de retina y su relación con la enfermedad de Von Hippel-Lindau. Presentación de seis casos

Intoduction: The retinal angioma is solitary, benign vascular lesion, of slow growth and can cause decreased vision due to traction or bleeding in the retina, they are sporadic but may occur in the inherited form of von Hippel-Lindau disease. Material and methods: A retrospective, observational and descriptive study of patients attending the outpatient service of ophthalmology in a tertiary care hospital of México over a period of five years from 2010 to 2015 was performed by correlating the retina angioma with the presence of other tumors, by imagenology study. Results: From a total of 54.996 consultations, six cases of retinal angioma were diagnosed, two of them were sporadic and four were von Hippel-Lindau disease type 1, four cases were found hemangioblastoma in the central nervous system, kidney tumor and pancreatic cyst in two cases. Conclusions: Patients with retinal angiomas should be submited for a clinical and imagenology study to identify timely von Hippel-Lindau disease.Introducción: El angioma de retina es una tumoración vascular benigna, solitaria y de crecimiento lento, puede causar disminución de la visión por tracción o exudación en la retina, generalmente es esporádico, también puede presentarse de forma hereditaria en la enfermedad de von Hippel-Lindau. Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo, observacional y descriptivo de pacientes que acudieron a la consulta del servicio de oftalmología de un hospital de concentración de tercer nivel en la ciudad de México del 2010 al 2015, buscando la relación del angioma de retina con la presencia de otras tumoraciones diagnosticadas por estudios de imagen y ultrasonido. Resultados: De 54,996 consultas se diagnosticaron seis casos de angioma de retina, dos casos fueron esporádicos y cuatro correspondieron a enfermedad de von Hippel-Lindau tipo 1, se encontró hemangioblastoma en sistema nervioso central en los cuatro, y en dos tumor renal y quiste pancreático. Conclusiones: Los pacientes con angioma de retina deben ser sometidos a estudios clínico, de imagen y ultrasonido para identificar oportunamente la enfermedad de von Hippel-Lindau
