O uso da teoria institucional nas pesquisas científicas e os tópicos relacionados: uma amostra do panorama mundial

Institutional Theory can explain the roles of the institutions in the organization of society, however, its application to the study of organizations is recent. That is why this bibliometric study investigates the publications of this issue and see which are the emerging issues. Therefore, publications were searched in Web of Science based on a study of qualitative and quantitative approach to the analysis of 6,945 studies.The results showed that the theme emerged since 1990 and are included primarily in the management area. Its greatest number of publications was found in Organization Studies, the University System and California, the institution linked to most research.A Teoria Institucional pode explicar os papéis das instituições na organização da sociedade, porém, sua aplicação ao estudo de organizações é recente. Por isso, este estudo bibliométrico buscou analisar as publicações dessa temática e verificar quais são os temas emergentes. Para tanto, foram buscadas publicações na base Web of Science, em um estudo de abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, com a análise de 6.945 estudos. Os resultados mostram que os trabalhos emergiram a partir de 1990 e estão inseridos, principalmente, na área de gestão. Seu maior número de publicações foi encontrado no Organization Studies, sendo a University California System a instituição vinculada à maioria das pesquisas.
