All cultures have created their own view of the human body as a starting point to explain the way it works and its internal structure. Different systems of physical exercise stem from those views. This paper aims at showing the multiple dimensions encompassed by Chinese traditional view of the human body which directly affect to Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong practice. Within this framework, six different views of the body in ancient Chinese philosophy are considered and used to reflect upon and problematize Western paradigms.
