I attempt to show that Karl R. Popper proposed the ‘theoretical charge thesis of observation’ before some philosophers of science considered ‘postpositivism’ (Hanson, Kuhn and Feyerabend), since in Logic of Scientific Discovery (1934) he offers reasons in favor of this thesis based on real scientific practice and on logic and linguistic considerations. In fact, one can find this thesis in The two fundamental problems of epistemology (1930-1933), as in this manuscript, Popper presents something similar to his ‘evolutionary epistemology’.
