Competitividad local de la agricultura ornamental en México

Floriculture is a competitive activity linked to the global economy. This activity is limited to certain regions, such the municipality of Villa Guerrero in the State of Mexico, whose floricultural potential is due to natural resources (water, soil, climate), as well as to social conditions (labor traditions, work organization, people’s willingness to learn new methods of cultivation and to use new technologies for floriculture). These qualities have favored the participation of these production units in the national market, with local and regional employment sustained and broadened, and family incomes increased. This research analyzes the socioeconomic characteristics and ornamental agricultural techniques of the San Felipe and Buenavista communities, whose local dynamics are inherent in the global economy of competition and the free market.Se muestran las características socioeconómicas y técnicas de la agricultura ornamental en las localidades de San Felipe y Buenavista, en el Estado de México, bajo un escenario de competencia y de libre mercado, además de analizar las cualidades y la influencia de esta actividad en el desarrollo local de la región
