n the last years the rural school closing has become massive in Chili, with multiple implications for the social cohesion and social integration. In this context it was developed a qualitative research in an ethnographic approach, with a case study in a rural community in the south of the country. The aim of this research was to know and understand the experience of social integration of rural families in urban educational institutions, after the school closure. The results show that for these families the school closure and the insertion in the urban context is experienced as an obligation imposed by the authority, associated with sensations of threat, discrimination and social exclusion in the new educational scenario.
