Evaluación de híbridos experimentales de maíz del PRM en Cenroamérica

The trial of experimental white cornhybrids from PRM-2001 was evaluated in 14 localities inCentral America during 2001. The objective was to assesstheir grain yield and agronomic characteristics of theexperimental hybrids. Twelve triple hybrids and one doublehybrid, bred from simple crosses from CIMMYT andsuperior lines from different PRM projects, mainly of hybridsand stunting , including one reference entry (CML 247 xCML 254) and on control, were evaluated. A CompleteRandomized Experimental Block design with threereplication was used. The variables registered were: grainyield, ear rot, male and female flowering, ear covering andaspect, root and stalk lodging. The results obtained for grainyield, through the 14 environments, varied between 4.75 to6.37 t/ha, with a general media of 5.60 t/ha and variationcoefficient of 9.9%. In ear rot, the hybrids showed values of4.3 and 8.0%, being lower than the controls.El ensayo de híbridos experimentalesblancos del PRM-2001, fue evaluado durante el año 2001en 14 localidades de Centroamérica. El objetivo de este trabajofue evaluar el rendimiento de grano y características agronómicas de los híbridos experimentales. Doce híbridos triples,uno doble, formados con cruzas simples de CIMMYT ylíneas superiores de diferentes proyectos del Programa Regionalde Maíz (PRM) principalmente de híbridos y achaparramiento,incluida una entrada de referencia (CML 247 x CML254) más un testigo local, fueron evaluados en un diseño experimentalde bloques completos al azar, con tres repeticiones.Las variables registradas fueron rendimiento de grano,pudrición de mazorca, floración masculina y femenina, alturade planta y mazorca, cobertura y aspecto de mazorca, acamede raíz y tallo. Los resultados obtenidos para rendimiento degrano a través de los 14 ambientes fluctuaron entre 4, 75 a6,37 t/ha con una media general de 5,60 t/ha y un coeficientede variación de 9,9%. En pudrición de mazorca los híbridospresentaron valores de 4,3 y 8,0%, inferiores al testigo
