The aim of this paper is to present a successful case of community-based ecotourism in a Mayan community and some of its strengths, achievements and obstacles. Kantemo Mayan community, located in southeastern Mexico, decided 8 years ago to seek an alternative product through tourism in order to exploit the rich landscape and natural resources that it possesses.
