The aims of this research were: 1) to contrast differences between m en and women in conforming to socio-cultural premises and in the self-reported frequency of couple violence, and 2) to study the relationship between these two variables. The questionnaires ofHistorical Socio-cultural Premises (DiazGuerrero, 2003) and intimate partner violence (Vargas, 2008) were applied toa non-probability sample of223 women and 177m en with heterosexual couples; 48.5% were married or cohabiting and 51.5% were boyfriends.
