Talmy (1991, 2000) classifies languages into verb-framed and satellite-framed languages according to the way they encode the notion of Path in the expression of motion events. The differences among languages in this regard are discernible in the way their users speak, and result in rhetorical differences among languages (Slobin 1996). Most research on the topic has focused, on the one hand, on physical motion and, on the other, has used data which, although real, is rather limited context-wise.
