This paper presents and discusses the partial results of an ongoing research project that has been gathering information on translation course syllabuses and curricula from different countries, seeking for possible relationships between this information and the profiles of translation/translator’s competence found in the literature. The main rationale for that research is the apparent lack of consensus in relation to the theoretical and pedagogical configurations of a translator’s education/training, observed not only in the theoretical references from translation studies, but also in our own academic and professional experience in the field.
