Since the middle of 1980’s until the end of 1990 in Cuba takes place an upsurge of works of social literature focusing in the shortage of products faced by Cubans in that period and questioning the canons and paradigms established in the country after 1959. With the decline of this boom the source of inspiration is found beyond the Island by many authors, among them the controversial Ena Lucia Portela.
