This paper attempts to rebuild the famous sophist Protagoras of Abdera from a reading of Plato’s dialogue Theaetetus. After reviewing and examining in detail the essential notes that Plato attributes to any sophist, this research exposes Protagoras’ thinking sug-gesting a different reading of Plato, in the sense of not directly associating the thesis of the homo mensura with the sensist thesis (‘knowledge is feeling’) and the permanent flow of the heraclitean position.
