This article studies the novel Perder es cuestión de método by Santiago Gamboa contextualized in the tradition of the detective novel. It stresses the differences between this novel and the canonic model of this genre and analyzes the tone of the novel by addressing its combination of the grave and the humorous. There is in the novel a constant reference to elements of popular culture, especially movies and TV shows; these references respond to the author's intention to enrich the genre and transform it into a powerful vehicle to express tensions, conflicts and the corruption of Colombian society, where crime and impunity have become normal issues and, in some moments, substitution for the law itself.El artículo analiza la novela Perder es ...
