The paper deals with the problem of Time as a basic component of Baudelaire's spleen. Since his childhood, Baudelaire feels to be disinherited, determined to unhappiness. Looking closely at his writings, we see immediately that Baudelaire's conscience is reflected by the incurable melancholy. His spleen has become the fundamental category of his aesthetics, of his conception of the world. The Baudelaire's poetry is "the mimesis of the death". The life, measured by the heart beating is nothing more then waiting for her. This paper aims to show that the time swallowing up the life is one of the keys of Baudelaire's poetry.
