Breve historia de los modelos del sistema vocálico del maya yucateco y su discusión actual

The study of Mayan Yucatecan vowels began since the first moment in which friars of the colonial epoch initiated the elaboration of grammars and dictionaries. After this, it is possible to identify, in literature from different times, several models of this language based on the gradual discovery of vocalic features (glottal state, length, tone) and modify the proposed models for this vocalic system. The present essay offers a swift [brief-short] description of Yucatecan vocalic system by presenting some contrasts of words that are distinguished by some of their vocalic features. Finally, it expose a brief review of the literature related to the vowels of the language in different times, until arriving [reaching] the current discussion that consist of the phonetics and phonology of the tones as well as of the rearticulated vowels.El estudio de las vocales del maya yucateco comenzó desde el primer momento en que los frailes de la época colonial iniciaron sus tratados sobre este idioma, y a partir de ahí es posible identificar en la literatura distintos tiempos en los que se han ido descubriendo los diversos rasgos de las vocales (estado glótico, duración, tonalidad) y modificando los modelos propuestos para el sistema vocálico de este idioma. El presente escrito ofrece una rápida descripción del sistema vocálico del maya yucateco presentando algunos contrastes de palabras que se distinguen por alguno de los rasgos vocálicos, y posteriormente expone una breve revisión de la literatura concerniente a las vocales del idioma en distintos tiempos, hasta llegar a la actual discusión que consiste en la fonética y fonología de los tonos así como de las vocales rearticuladas
