Natural fiber bundles can be employed as reinforcements of polymeric matrices. However, the high hidrophibility tendency of natural fiber bundles conditioned their potential applications, due to incompatibility with the polymeric matrix and the high tendency to moisture sorption. In this study, two fiber bundle treatment as alkaline and silanization process have been evaluated. Untreated and treated epoxy composites reinforced with fique fibers have been immersed in current and destiled water for 3575 h. Both treatments improve flexural behavior of composites, and reduce their moisture caption. However, at higher exposure time, significant reduction on flexural behavior is observed.
