While HIV related stigma has been a major problem world-wide and India in particular, a clear understanding about the process behind such phenomenon is non-existent. The current study examines perception of people at different levels of exposure to HIV and AIDS by employing eight Focus Group Discussions and gathering 24 Narratives, in western India during 2008-2009. Findings reveal the dynamics (level) of stigma in 3 broad time phases such as before, immediately during and sometimes after finding HIV in blood (presented in a 2-dimentional graph), and 3 broad dimensions such as physiological, social and economic contexts.
