Lugares, paisajes y políticas de memoria: una lectura geográfica

This article reflects, from a geographic point of view, on the spatial dimensions of collective memory. In the first segment, the manifestations and the fundamental causes of recent interest for collective memory are examined. The second part of this article studies the concept of place of memory and its reception in geography. The third and fourth parts of this article focus on the relationship between landscape, historical memory and national identity, with special interest regarding the Spanish context. In the final part, the article considers other fields of investigation that study spatial dimensions of collective memory as well as the interest of this topic for the history of geography.Este artículo reflexiona, desde una perspectiva geográfica, sobre las dimensiones espaciales de la memoria colectiva. En el primer apartado se examinan las manifestaciones y causas principales del interés reciente por la memoria colectiva. En el segundo se aborda el concepto de lugar de memoria y su recepción en la geografía. Los apartados tercero y cuarto del artículo se centran en las relaciones entre paisaje, memoria histórica e identidad nacional, incidiendo en el contexto español. Finalmente, se plantean diversas consideraciones sobre otras líneas de investigación abiertas en relación con las dimensiones espaciales de la memoria colectiva, así como sobre el interés del tema para la historia de la geografía
