Risco de síndrome metabólica em mulheres inscritas em programa de hidroginástica do Centro Universitário de João Pessoa (UNIPÊ)

In that begin of century the Metabolic Syndrome it is one of the great challenges that faces the area of the health. Being treated of a complex upset represented by a group of factors of cardiovascular risk, as arterial hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, among other, and that are usually associated to the intra­abdominal fat and the resistance to the insulin. The physical inactivity is among the principal factors that contribute to the appearance of Metabolic Syndrome. That research had for objective to discover the risk of Syndrome Metabolic in women enrolled in the water aerobics of the Program of Extension of the course of physical education of Centro Universitário de João Pessoa (UNIPÊ). It is a study of the traverse and descriptive type. The sample was composed by n=106 women, in the age group among 40 to 84 years. The initial instrument was an anamnesis addressed to the analysis of several subjects in relation to the lifestyle of the women, diseases, objectives be reached. Soon after they were measure weight, stature, circumferences and cutaneous folds. The Body Composition was evaluated through the Body Mass Index (BMI) (WHO, 1995); of the Index of Waist and Hip (IWH) and of the percentile of relative Fat (%fat) according to Pollock et al. and Guedes (1985). In the statistical procedures, was used of SPSS version 16.0 to calculate averages, standard deviations and “r” of Pearson. Was also used the Physical Test version 6.2 for the classification of data. As results, Were verified in relation to the anamnesis that 49 (46,2%) of the appraised women answered that had not practiced any type of physical activity; 27 (25,5%) said that had already smoked an average of 9,2 cigarette/day and in a medium period of 20,7 years; 41 (38,7%) said that made diet and of those, 28 (68,3%) and 13 (31,7%) answered that the purpose of the diet was respectively to lose weight and to control concentration of glucose plasmatic and levels triglycerides, total cholesterol and fractions. Of the total interviewees, 92 (87,0%) presented medium and moderate risk to develop diseases coronations. In relation to the use of medicines, 72 (67,9%) answered that had already used medicines; being 36 (50,0%) for cardiovascular diseases, 5 (6,9%) for diabetes and 31(43,1%) for other several problems. The women presented an inadequate body composition: BMI = 28,1 ± 4,1kg/m2 (reference = 25< BMI <30) that corresponds to Overweight I, an IWH = 0,85 ± 0,1 (reference = up to 0,82 it is normal) and a %fat of 29,7 ± 5,5 (reference = 25 to 33) classified as above the normal. There was correlation among % of fat (r = ­0,240; p = 0,013) and PCCQ (r = 0,328; p <0,001) and the Age. In conclusion, a significant portion of the women evaluated presents risk factors that contribute to the appearance of the Metabolic Syndrome, and the adoption of healthy habits, among the ones which the practice of the water aerobics, is fundamental, since the same when practiced in an appropriate way and regularly, it is an important factor for the prevention and treatment of that disease.Nesse inicio de século, a Síndrome Metabólica é um dos grandes desafios que enfrenta a área da saúde. Tratando­se de um transtorno complexo representado por um conjunto de fatores de risco cardiovascular, como hipertensão arterial, hipercolesterolemia, diabetes, dentre outros, e que são geralmente associados à gordura intra­abdominal e à resistência à insulina. A inatividade física está entre os principais fatores que contribuem para o surgimento da Síndrome Metabólica. Essa pesquisa teve por objetivo averiguar o risco de Síndrome Metabólica em mulheres inscritas na hidroginástica do Programa de Extensão do curso de Educação Física do Centro Universitário de João Pessoa (UNIPÊ). Trata­se de um estudo do tipo transversal e descritivo. A amostra foi composta por n=106 mulheres, na faixa etária entre 40 a 84 anos. O instrumento inicial foi uma anamnese direcionada à análise de diversos assuntos em relação ao estilo de vida das mulheres, doenças, objetivos a serem alcançados. Em seguida foram mensurados peso, estatura, circunferências e dobras cutâneas. Avaliou­se a Composição Corporal através do Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC) (OMS, 1995); Índice de Cintura e Quadril (ICQ) e percentual de Gordura relativa (%G) segundo os Protocolos de Pollock et al. (1985) e Guedes (1985). Nos procedimentos estatísticos, utilizou­se do SPSS versão 16.0 para calcular médias, desvios padrões e “r” de Pearson. Também foi utilizado o Physical Test versão 6.2 para a classificação de dados. Conforme resultados, em relação à anamnese verificou­se que 49 (46,2%) das mulheres avaliadas responderam que não haviam praticado nenhum tipo de atividade física; 27 (25,5%) disseram que já haviam fumado uma média de 9,2 cigarros/dia e num período médio de 20,7 anos; 41 (38,7%) disseram que faziam dieta e dessas, 28 (68,3%) e 13 (31,7%) responderam que a finalidade da dieta era respectivamente perder peso e controlar concentração de glicose plasmática e níveis séricos de triglicérides, colesterol total e frações. Do total das entrevistadas, 92 (87,0%) apresentaram risco médio e moderado para desenvolver doenças coronarianas. Em relação ao uso de medicamentos, 72 (67,9%) responderam que já havia usado medicamentos; sendo 36 (50,0%) para doenças cardiovasculares, 5 (6,9%) para Diabetes e 31(43,1%) para diversos outros problemas. As mulheres apresentavam uma composição corporal inadequada: IMC = 28,1 ± 4,1kg/ m2 (referência = 25 ≤ IMC < 30) que corresponde a Sobrepeso I, um ICQ = 0,85 ± 0,1 (referência = até 0,82 é normal) e um %G de 29,7 ± 5,5 (referência = 25 a 33) classificado como acima do normal. Houve correlação entre % de gordura (r = ­0,240; p = 0,013) e PCCQ (r = 0,328; p < 0,001) e a Idade. Em conclusão, uma significante parcela das mulheres avaliadas apresentou fatores de risco que contribuem para o surgimento daSíndrome Metabólica, e a adoção de hábitos saudáveis, dentre os quais a prática da hidroginástica, é fundamental, já que a mesma quando praticada de maneira adequada e regularmente, é um importante fator para a prevenção e tratamento dessa doença
