Variables psicológicas y psicopatológicas asociadas a los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA)

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare some psychological and psychopathological variables usually associated with different types of patients with eating disorders (ED). A total of 22 variables (psychological, psychopathological and specifically relatedto TCA) were analyzed in three groups of patients with anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN) and eating disorders not otherwise specified (EDNOS).Method: The sample consisted of 76 patients diagnosed with ED (mean age 20.13 ± 6.28 years; 69 women and 7 men). The following questionnaires were administered: Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale (SES), Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R), Beck'sDepression Inventory (BDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ), Body Appreciation Scale (BAS), Eating Disorder Inventory-2 (EDI-2) and Body Image Quality of Life Inventory (BIQLI-SP).Results: Generally no significant differences between groups, except for the variables related to the BSQ and EDI-2 questionnaires, were found. The study of the correlations among the different variables specifically related to eating disorders and others, showeddifferences between groups. Conclusions: The present study shows few differences with respect to psychopathological symptoms among the different types of ED. Bearing in mind future studies, it would be interesting to use a bigger sample size, to include more men, and to distinguish between restricted/purging types of ED.Objetivo: El objeto de este trabajo fue hacer un estudio comparativo de algunas variables psicológicas y psicopatológicas habitualmente asociadas a los distintos tipos de pacientes con trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA). Se analizaron 22 variables(psicológicas generales, psicopatológicas generales y específicamente relacionadas con los TCA) en tres grupos de pacientes diagnosticados de anorexia nerviosa (AN), bulimia nerviosa (BN) y trastornos de la conducta alimentaria no especificados (TCANE).Método: La muestra estuvo formada por 76 pacientes diagnosticados de TCA (edad media 20,13 ± 6,28 años; 69 mujeres y 7 hombres). Se administraron los siguientes cuestionarios: Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale (SES), Symptom Checklist-90-Revised(SCL-90-R), Beck’s Depression Inventory (BDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ), Body Appreciation Scale (BAS), Eating Disorder Inventory-2 (EDI-2) y Body Image Quality of Life Inventory (BIQLI-SP).Resultados: No se encontraron diferencias significativas entre los grupos en general, salvo para las variables relacionadas con los cuestionarios BSQ y EDI-2. El estudio de correlación entre las variables específicamente relacionadas con los TCA y el resto devariables, mostró diferencias entre grupos. Conclusiones: El presente estudio muestra, en general, pocas diferencias en síntomas psicopatológicos entre los distintos tipos de TCA. Para futuros estudios seria de interés ampliar el tamaño de la muestra, incrementar la participación de varones, y recopilar datos sobre el comportamiento restrictivo/purgativo en los distintos grupos de TCA
