The emergence and spread of strains of falciparum plasmodium resistant to drugs in the schemes of first-line treatment for non complicated malaria, emphasizes the importance of finding new active compounds against this parasite. This study shows the presence of terpenoids and coumarins in the preliminary phytochemical analysis of Coccocypselum hirsutum Rubiaceae. The antimalarial activity was evaluated by inhibiting the maturation of young forms of the parasite within the erythrocyte esquizontes (test of maturity).
