Variación anual de la composición química del aceite esencial de flores de ylang-ylang (cananga odorata hook fill et thomson, forma genuina).

The high quality ylang-ylang essential oil has been used as an irreplaceable cosmetic product of world-wide fame. The degree of commercial differentiation of the oil is based basically on the content of oxygenated compounds. The oil was obtained by distillation of the flowers of the tree of Cananga odorata. A relation between the time of the year and the chemical composition of the oil was determined. The flowers were collected monthly during the years 2005 and 2006. The monoterpene hydrocarbons and their oxygenated analogs presented a greater content during March and May. The oxygenated sesquiterpenes presented a high percentage in April and October. The greater yield of the essential oil was observed in the months of May, June and July (0,5%). The smaller percentage appeared in October (0,3%).El aceite esencial de ylang-ylang de mejor calidad se ha utilizado como producto insustituible de productos cosméticos de fama mundial. El grado de diferenciación comercial del aceite es establecido básicamente con base en los compuestos oxigenados. El aceite fue obtenido por destilación de las flores del árbol de Cananga odorata. Se determinó una relación entre la época del año y la composición química del aceite. Las flores fueron colectadas mensualmente durante los años 2005 y 2006. Los hidrocarburos monoterpénicos y sus análogos oxigenados presentaron un mayor contenido durante marzo y mayo. Los sesquiterpenos oxigenados presentaron un alto porcentaje en abril y octubre. El mayor rendimiento del aceite esencial se observó en los meses de mayo, junio y julio (0.5%). El menor porcentaje se presentó en octubre (0.3%)
