In this paper, the performance of Support Vector Machines (SVM), Learning Algorithm for Multivariable Data Analysis (LAMDA), and Finite Mixtures (MF), three classification techniques from the soft computing field tested and compared in an application on power distribution systems. In this case the proposed techniques are used to solve the fault location problem. The power distribution system is then subdivided in several zones and by applying each technique one of these is identified as the faulted zone. As results, values of the precision indexes higher than 90% are obtained in case of the application of SVM.En este artículo se analiza y compara el desempeño de las Máquinas de Soporte Vectorial (SVM), el Algoritmo de Aprendizaje para Análi...
