The study of the precipitation hardening in the Al-4%Cu-0.5%Mg alloy with additions of 0.5-4%Ag was carried out by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and hardness Vickers (HV) measurements. Alloys were homogenized at 525°C for 7 days and then quenched. The precipitation was induced by aging treatments at 150, 200 and 250°C for different times. The addition up to 3%Ag promotes an increase in hardness for all the treatments of aged. Additionally, the TEM results showed that the coexistence of the è' and Ù phases are responsible for the increase in hardness.
