An approach to the nest site selection of Kelp Gull (Larus dominicanus) in an urban area and a new nesting substrate is recorded. Data were collected between November 2012 and December 2013 in an urban area of the Coquimbo Region (Chile). The selection of sites was modeled with a logistic regression using two variables (distance to the nearest nest and distance closest to the sea) and selecting random points within the study area. 13 nests built mainly of thatch were recorded. The time of nest building corresponded to November, during the first two weeks and possible egg hatching occurred in mid-December.
