La crianza infantil en los discursos coloniales indígenas en el México Central

Currently, children studies have become a trending topic in the social sciences around the globe. It is essential to bring this perspective to the Mesoamerican Ethnohistory to understand the colonial realities of the indigenous groups in the past. For this aim, discourses related to childrearing produced during the early colonial times by friars and Nahua scholars were studied based on theories developed by the history and anthropology of childhoods, and through the use of textual and philological analysis. The main conclusion is that childrearing was not a mundane topic for Friars and Nahua scholars, but a relevant one where the roles of a mother, a father, and a child inside the household were discussed in their desire for shaping the colonial indigenous society.En la actualidad, los estudios sobre las infancias han tomado gran importancia en el ámbito de las ciencias sociales a nivel mundial. Es imprescindible traer esta perspectiva al ámbito de la etnohistoria mesoamericana para acercarnos más a las realidades coloniales vividas por los pueblos indígenas del pasado. Con base en las teorías sobre crianza infantil propuestas desde la historia y la antropología, y utilizando los métodos planteados por la Escuela Norteamericana de la Nueva Filología, y el análisis textual, se analizaron los discursos producidos por los frailes y los indígenas nahuas adoctrinados durante la etapa temprana de la colonia. Se concluye que la crianza infantil fue un tema importante para el proceso de colonización de las poblaciones indígenas; un tema que, lejos de ser mundano, se volvió relevante en la disputa sobre el rol que debían jugar padres, madres, e infantes dentro del hogar en el deseo de reconfigurar las sociedades indígenas coloniales
