Hip Hop, la ciudad hecha imagen: El habitar en función de lo visual

The article proposes a meditation on urban artistic expressions, specifically Hip-Hop, emphasizing on the vast graffiti footprint that that movement has tattooed on the skin of contemporary cities, transforming them, making visible the invisible, particularly, the so-many-times-stigmatized or the commonly-considered-vandalic youth culture. It analyzes the means and ways of street art, as well as its constantly alternative, irreverent and non-conformist content in comparison with the conventional and wonted discourse of the establishment, in order to reassert the idea of identity in art and the city by interpreting these expressions. It concludes, among other things, that urban space embodies limitations for street art, such in banned territories (historical, institutional); that contemporary culture identifies and recognizes the real and the public in the city by means of its signs; and that some art critics and gallery owners have started to make money with an art with no real economical value, given its essentially public and ephemeral nature.El artículo reflexiona acerca de las expresiones artísticas urbanas específicamente sobre el hip hop, haciendo énfasis en la amplia estela de graffiti que ese movimiento ha tatuado sobre la piel de las ciudades contemporáneas, transformándolas, haciendo visible lo invisible: las culturas juveniles, muchas veces marginadas o tildadas de vandálicas. Se analizan los medios y las formas del street art, así como sus contenidos, siempre alternativos, irreverentes y contestatarios frente al acartonado y sólido discurso del establishment. Mediante una interpretación de estas expresiones se reafirma la idea de la identidad del arte y la ciudad. Se concluye, entre otras cosas, que el espacio urbano posee limitaciones para el street art, territorios vedados (los históricos, los institucionales); que la cultura contemporánea identifica y reconoce lo real de la ciudad y lo público a partir de sus signos; y que algunos críticos de arte y galeristas han empezado a lucrarse de un arte que debido a su naturaleza no tiene valor económico, puesto que es esencialmente público y efímero
