Preparación pedagógica y producción científico educacional en profesores de Salud Pública

Introduction: to achieve a true scientific management of the educational process it is required that teachers and tutors have a solid background in pedagogy and didactics. Objective: to identify the pedagogical qualifications and the educational scientific production of teachers of the subject Public Health at the Hermanos Cruz University Polyclinic in Pinar del Río. Method: a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in the first quarter of 2013 at the Hermanos Cruz University Polyclinic in Pinar del Río. The universe consisted of all teachers who were part of the 5th year teacher staff in that polyclinic (U=28). The sample consisted of the 15 teachers who teach the subject Public Health. For data collection, a questionnaire was administered to teachers; and individual labor agreements, teacher staff records and the files of the teaching and research department of the institution were reviewed. Results: the staff consists of 15 teachers; most of them are instructors who have completed the pedagogy basic course. Educational or professional research and publications are minimal. There are no Masters in Medical Education. It is evident the need for teaching actions that benefit the pedagogical qualifications of teachers, an aspect that is undisputed. Conclusions: it was found that the majority of teachers of the subject Public Health have passed the Basic Course of Pedagogy. However, their educational research and publications are minimal compared to the rest of the scientific topics.Introducción: para lograr una verdadera dirección científica del proceso pedagógico, se requiere que los profesores y tutores tengan una sólida preparación en Pedagogía y Didáctica. Objetivo: identificar la preparación pedagógica y la producción científico educacional de los profesores de la asignatura Salud Pública en el Policlínico Universitario �Hermanos Cruz� de Pinar del Río. Método: se realizó una investigación descriptiva, de corte transversal durante el primer trimestre del año 2013 en el Policlínico Universitario �Hermanos Cruz� de Pinar del Río. El universo estuvo constituido por todos los docentes del claustro del 5to año de la carrera (U=28), la muestra quedó conformada por 15 de ellos que son los que imparten la asignatura Salud Pública; para la recolección de la información se aplicó un cuestionario a los docentes, se revisaron los convenios individuales, los expedientes de cuadros y los archivos del departamento de docencia e investigación de la institución. Resultados: el claustro está formado por 15 profesores, en su mayoría instructores y han cursado el curso básico de Pedagogía, las publicaciones e investigaciones de corte pedagógico o profesional resultan mínimas, no cuentan con másteres en Educación Médica. Se manifiesta la necesidad de efectuar acciones docentes que beneficien la preparación pedagógica, como necesidad indiscutible para estos profesores. Conclusiones: se comprueba que la mayoría de los docentes del claustro de la asignatura Salud Pública han pasado el Curso Básico de Pedagogía, pero las publicaciones e investigaciones de corte pedagógico resultan mínimas en comparación con el resto de las temáticas científicas
