This paper presents the results of research on fishing organisations in Lake Chapala in the states of Michoacán and Jalisco, in Mexico. The pertinence of this essay is explained by the fact that the fishermen are currently facing many challenges regarding socio-environmental changes taking place in the lake, and to the exacerbation of the crisis in traditional fishing.
