Etica docente del siglo XXI: nuevos desafíos

We have seen in the last thirty years a reappearance of ideas that insist in recovering the traditional identity of the teacher, that should not be limited to the teach- EDETANIA 43 [Julio 2013], 17-31, ISSN: 0214-8560 18 José Antonio Ibáñez-Martín y Mellado ing of facts, but must be a master of humanity, having a real care of the students and cultivating the moral life of schools. Care of students is nowadays a different thing, because new technologies have put new problems in the life of students. In the text are identified ten new problems that have the digital natives that we, digital immigrants, hadn’t. On the other hand, in these years, we have seen also how a lot of Ethics Codes flourished, Codes whose utility is recognized, but whose limitations can’t be hided. Indeed, the theoretical foundations of these codes are never reasoned, and this a flaw that the philosophy of education must overcome, doing a profound reflection about the criteria that inspire the solutions to the new challenges and to the new ways that could be followed in the professional lives of teachers.En estos últimos treinta años han vuelto a surgir importantes corrientes de pensamiento que insisten en recuperar la tradicional identidad del profesor, que no puede limitarse a la exposición de hechos sino que debe sentirse llamado a ser maestro de humanidad, teniendo un verdadero cuidado de sus alumnos y del cultivo de la vida moral de la escuela. Por otra parte, el cuidado de los alumnos tiene nuevos ámbitos, pues con las nuevas tecnologías de la información han surgido problemas antes inexistentes, que se detallan en este texto. Estas circunstancias están en la base de la proliferación de numerosos códigos éticos de la educación, de los que se señala tanto su utilidad como sus limitaciones actuales. No cabe seguir dictando códigos sin exponer unos fundamentos teóricos que sean objeto de discusión. La filosofía de la educación está llamada a realizar una reflexión más profunda que fundamente las respuestas a los retos educativos y a las formas actuales que se proponen para vivir la profesión docente en nuestros días
