Inteligencia emocional en alumnado con necesidades de compensación educativa

This study analyses the development of Emotional Intelligence in Nursery Education students with remedial education needs attending a Reinforcement, Guidance and Support Programme at a centre of Primary Education in the province of Jaén (Spain). The work relies on a sample of 50 students, and the data were collected by means of a self-report questionnaire on Emotional Education developed by Álvarez and the Research Group in Psychopedagogical Orienteering (2006). The results show how often students feel good about themselves, being physically satisfied with their own performance. The search for solutions to their problems, forgiving, and planning their spare time in an efficient way are common practices with these students, although they report to be "sometimes" worried about their future or feeling sad with no apparent reason. It also worth underlying the existence of statistically significant differences in the assessment of students on awareness and emotional control according to their educational level, particularly between students enrolled in the first and in the third cycles of primary education. Statistically significant differences were not detected as regards selfesteem, socioemotional skills or life abilities.Este estudio analiza el nivel de desarrollo de la Inteligencia Emocional en alumnado de Educación Primaria con necesidades de compensación educativa que asiste a un Programa de Refuerzo, Orientación y Apoyo en un centro de Educación Infantil y Primaria de la provincia de Jaén (España). En el trabajo han participado 50 alumnos, utilizándose para la recogida de datos un cuestionario de autoinforme sobre Educación Emocional de Álvarez y Grup de Recerca en Orientació Psicopedagògica (2006). Los resultados obtenidos demuestran cómo el alumnado suele sentirse bien consigo mismo, aceptándose físicamente y estando satisfecho con sus propias actuaciones. La búsqueda de soluciones a sus problemas, el hecho de perdonar, organizar adecuadamente su tiempo libre constituye una práctica habitual en estos alumnos, a pesar de que sólo "a veces" se preocupen por su futuro o se sientan tristes sin motivo aparente. Asimismo, se destaca la existencia de diferencias estadísticamente significativas en las valoraciones del alumnado sobre conciencia y control emocional según el nivel educativo; concretamente, entre aquellos alumnos que cursan el primer ciclo y los que pertenecen al tercer ciclo de Educación Primaria. No se aprecian diferencias estadísticamente significativas para las dimensiones autoestima, habilidades socioemocionales o habilidades de vida y bienestar subjetivo
