Factores de la imagen institucional universitaria: perspectiva desde un sector del público interno, personal administrativo

The objective of this research is to identify the image factors of the University of Carabobo (UC) from the perspective of its administrative staff. An exploratory research, including a theoretical model and a semi-structured questionnaire was designed. It was applied to a nonrandom sample of the public noted above. Content validity of the instrument closed questions was based on a review of the literature and expert judgment. The open question was aimed at collect other attributes of university institutional image not included. It�s obtained a total of nine factors: Labor Aspects, Social, Cultural Aspects, Academic Quality, Service Quality, Accessibility, University Response to Industry Requirements, Administrative Aspects and Security, which grouped the 34 attributes that could define the institutional image of the UC. Of the total 7 dimensions and 24 attributes come from the Factor Analysis and the rest were gathered in the open question of the questionnaire. Given the exploratory nature of the study isn�t possible to conclude that these are the key factors of the institutional image of the UC, for its determination will be designed a scale with the attributes identified and applied in the next phase of research. However, his greatest contribution was to identify university Venezuelan context-specific factors and attributes institutional image from the administrative staff perspective. This results can be used in the preparation of a definitive scale for future research, not only at the University of Carabobo, but in the Latin American context, which will serve as a tool for evaluation, allowing the detection of weaknesses and strengths in order to define management strategies for improving and strengthening institutional university imagen.El objetivo del trabajo es identificar los factores que definen la imagen de la Universidad de Carabobo (UC), desde la perspectiva de su personal administrativo. Para ello se realizó un estudio exploratorio, que incluyó el diseño de un modelo teórico y un cuestionario semiestructurado aplicado a una muestra no probabilística del público seleccionado. La validez de contenido de las preguntas cerradas del instrumento se constató mediante la revisión de la literatura y el juicio de expertos. La pregunta abierta tuvo como fin recopilar otros atributos de la imagen institucional universitaria no incluidos. Se obtuvo en total nueve factores: Aspectos Laborales, Aspectos Sociales, Aspectos Culturales, Calidad Académica, Calidad de Servicio, Accesibilidad, Respuesta de la Universidad a los Requerimientos de la Industria, Aspectos Administrativos y Seguridad, donde se agruparon los 34 atributos que podrían definir la imagen institucional de la UC; de los cuales, 7 dimensiones y 24 atributos provienen del Análisis de Factores realizado y el resto fueron recogidos en la pregunta abierta del cuestionario. Dado el carácter exploratorio del estudio, no es posible concluir que estos son los factores clave de la imagen de la Institución; sin embargo, su mayor contribución fue identificar los factores y atributos de la imagen institucional desde la perspectiva del personal administrativo, propios del contexto universitario venezolano, pudiendo ser utilizados en la elaboración de una escala definitiva en investigaciones posteriores, no sólo en la Universidad de Carabobo, sino en el ámbito latinoamericano, que servirá como instrumento para su evaluación, permitiendo la detección de sus debilidades y fortalezas, con miras a definir estrategias de gestión orientadas a mejorar la forma como es percibida y apuntalar esfuerzos dirigidos a lograr su fortalecimiento
