The works of H. Arendt, often read as political philosophy, may be interpreted as an ethics of action and reflection. This paper focuses on the ethics of implicit reflection, particularly in Arendt’s late works. These texts invite a non-orthodox - though stimulating –reading of Kant since it suggests a world in which tradition is forever broken. The Kantian concept of reflective judgment – based on taste judgment – is developed further by Arendt to the ethical-political arena. This is shown by Kant’s appeal to “broaden our mind” by putting ourselves in the other person’s shoes.
