During the 1920s, the Journal Revista de Occidente was, among other periodical publications, one of the fora where the possibility of an autonomous art in Spain was debated. In this journal, the idea of an autonomous art was influenced by Ortega y Gasset�s concept of dehumanization; other related concepts stemmed from it, such as will of style, «geometrization», metaphor, infrarealism and instranscendency, spreading into painting, music, cinema, aesthetics, art history, writing and surrealism.
