Here are characterized 6 wood species commonly used as structural elements in Boyacá department, according their mechanical and elastic properties by using the 2010 Colombian Regulation on Earthquake- Resistant Construction, Chapter G. The species studied were: Abarco, Diphysarobinioides, cedar, eucalyptus, lignum vitae and pine. The tests were conducted at the UPTC Structures Laboratory and included: bulk density, humidity content, bending strength, elastic modulus, compressive and tensile strength.
