The goal of this study was to test four-stage causal sequence of the Vallerand�s Hierarchical Model of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation (1997) in a Physical Education context. Three hundred fifty-four secondary education students agreed to participate (M=14.28 years, DT = 1.78). They completed two questionnaires: PMCSQ-2, BPNES, the intrinsic motivation scale of the PLOC, and a boredom subcale. Based on the theoretical background presented, a structural equation model was designed. The initial hypothesis was that a task climate would positively predict students� basic psychological needs, and these would positively predict intrinsic motivation.
