This study examines some important characteristics of the Germanic criminal legal culture of three Germanic peoples who lived in the old territories of the Western Roman Empire during the so-called High Middle Ages: the Visigoths (Iberian Peninsula) Lombards (Italian Peninsula) and Franks (Gaul). In the introduction, the three different (co-existing) cultures are indicated, which sought to exercise power during the beginning of the Middle Ages: the Germanic tradition, the Roman tradition and mystical Christian thought.
